The Bay of Islands is a beautiful region located just a few hours north of Auckland. Visit it on a full day tour and explore it on a dolphin watching cruise to the famous 'Hole in the Rock'.
Enjoy your driver guide's commentary as you journey north to the Bay of Islands town of Paihia. You'll have time to explore this popular holiday resort before joining your afternoon cruise around the spectacular Bay of Islands. On arrival at Cape Brett with its remote lighthouse, you might be lucky enough to pass through the famous 'Hole in the Rock' at Motukokako Island (subject to sea conditions). And don't forget to keep an eye out for the many types of marine and bird life in this region, including penguins, dolphins and whales.
At the end of your Bay of Islands cruise, rejoin your coach for the journey back to Auckland, arriving in the evening.
After arriving in Paihia, visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a guided tour. In 1840 this historic treaty was signed between Māori and the British Crown, shaping the nation of New Zealand. During your tour you'll see the historic Treaty House, the beautifully carved marae (meeting house) and the magnificent waka or war canoe named Ngātokimatawharua. Your Waitangi tour will give you an insight into Māori culture and New Zealand history.
At the conclusion of your Waitangi visit, return to Paihia to board your Hole in the Rock cruise.
Enjoy everything listed above, plus a scrumptious picnic lunch to enjoy on board your Hole in the Rock cruise. Vegetarian options available.
