Gray Line works with the Legendary Black Water Rafting Company - New Zealand’s first black water rafting adventure operator. They've been sharing thrills and excitement since 1987, and have experienced guides who will take you safely through the stunning underworld of Ruakuri Cave.

What began as a special treat for a brave few has developed into a spectacular tourism attraction that gives visitors of all ages the chance to weave, jump, and float through a glowworm-studded subterranean wonderland below Waitomo.  A visit to the world-famous Waitomo limestone formations and cave systems offers a magical subterranean experience. The Arachnocampa luminosa glow-worm is unique to New Zealand. Hundreds of limestone caves lie beneath the craggy King Country hillside. Created by geological and volcanic activity, the caves have evolved over 30 million years. 

With two exhilarating tours, namely Black Labyrinth and Black Abyss to choose from, there is something to suit all adventurous spirits. The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co. is New Zealand's first black water rafting adventure operator. And it's also the only tour that takes you through the incomparable Ruakuri Cave.

Each Waitomo Black Water Rafting expedition includes around 8-12 people guided by expert guides who will support and encourage you through the whole breathtaking tour.

Gray Line provides the transport connections from Auckland and on to Rotorua or back to Auckland.
